Celebrity Solstice debuted in 2008 as the most innovative ship Celebrity had ever built, introducing the revolutionary grass lawn concept that put Celebrity on the map as a design-forward line. As the oldest Solstice-class ship she's been updated but retains the design DNA that spawned four sister ships and, later, the entire Edge class. Primarily deployed in Australia and the Pacific, she offers Southern Hemisphere itineraries that most Celebrity ships don't cover.

✦ The standout feature

The original Lawn Club — Celebrity Solstice was the first cruise ship ever to grow real grass at sea. This half-acre of sod on Deck 15 changed how the industry thought about ship design and spawned an entire Solstice class. It remains as unique and charming as it was in 2008.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Celebrity Solstice sail?
Solstice primarily sails Australian and New Zealand itineraries from Sydney during the Southern Hemisphere summer (November–March). In Northern Hemisphere summer she typically operates Alaska itineraries from Seattle. She occasionally sails the Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale during shoulder seasons.
Is Celebrity Solstice showing her age?
She's the oldest Solstice ship (launched 2008) and while Celebrity has maintained and updated her, she doesn't have the Infinite Veranda cabins or Eden space of the newer Edge-class ships. However, the fundamentals — Murano dining, the Lawn Club, the Solarium — remain excellent and her smaller size (2,852 passengers) feels more intimate than the larger ships.
Why does Celebrity Solstice sail to Australia?
Celebrity has a significant Australian customer base and Solstice is ideally sized for the Australian market — large enough to offer premium amenities but not so massive that the itineraries feel overwhelming. Australia is one of Celebrity's strongest markets outside North America.
What is the AquaClass category on Celebrity Solstice?
AquaClass staterooms are premium balcony cabins that include access to the Persian Garden thermal suite (a $200-400 value per sailing), dining in Blu restaurant (an exclusive AquaClass-only dining venue with a lighter menu), and other spa-focused benefits. It's one of the best value cabin categories on any Celebrity ship.
