Carnival Venezia is unlike any other Carnival ship. Converted from Costa Venezia (the Italian-owned arm of Carnival Corporation) and relaunched as a Carnival vessel in 2023, she retains an unmistakable Italian design aesthetic — from the piazza-style Atrium to her distinctly European proportions. As Carnival's first New York-based year-round ship, she sails from Manhattan's Pier 88 on Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries, making her the obvious choice for Northeast US cruisers who want to avoid a flight to Florida.

✦ The standout feature

The Grand Italian Atrium — a soaring, glass-ceilinged atrium that spans multiple decks in true Italian piazza style, unlike anything else in the Carnival fleet. Combined with her European heritage, Venezia feels genuinely different from every other Fun Ship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Carnival Venezia look different from other Carnival ships?
Venezia was built as Costa Venezia in Italy and operated by Costa Cruises (a Carnival Corporation brand) from 2019 to 2022. When Carnival Corporation transferred her to the Carnival brand in 2023, they retained her Italian-heritage design — particularly the soaring atrium and European proportions — while adding Carnival-signature venues like Guy's Burger Joint and BlueIguana.
Does Carnival Venezia sail from New York year-round?
Yes. Venezia is Carnival's permanent New York homeport ship, sailing from Manhattan's Pier 88 year-round. She sails Bahamas itineraries (Nassau, Half Moon Cay, Freeport) in shorter sailings and longer Caribbean loops in the winter season.
Is Carnival Venezia a good ship for families?
Yes, though she's somewhat smaller than Carnival's newest builds. She has Camp Ocean kids' clubs, WaterWorks, and family staterooms. The NY homeport makes her especially convenient for East Coast families.
How does Venezia compare to Mardi Gras and Jubilee?
Mardi Gras and Jubilee are newer Excel-class ships with the Bolt rollercoaster, BOLT (the first rollercoaster at sea), and a wider range of dining including additional Guy's-branded venues. Venezia has a more European feel and the unique NY homeport but lacks some of the newest features.
